Availability
1756-IB16 is sourced from our vetted surplus and refurbishment network rather than held on a shelf, which is why we can offer parts the manufacturer no longer sells. Condition is confirmed in writing before you pay — new surplus, refurbished, or used and tested — and is stated on the invoice as a contractual term, never as marketing.
- Condition stated per item, in writing, before payment
- 30-day functional warranty on every item we supply
- Next business day despatch on confirmed stock, worldwide courier
- Payment in full before despatch — no account application, no credit check
If 1756-IB16 cannot be found
These are the alternatives we would consider, with what each one actually costs you to fit. None of them is a blind swap — read the condition on each.
Larger capacity, same form factor — fits and behaves as a supersetNeeds a configuration change in the PLC program
Same 16-point 24V DC input, with per-point diagnostics added. Field wiring is unchanged. The module has its own catalogue number and a different data layout, so the I/O configuration and any tag aliases referencing the input array must be updated.
What will NOT work in place of 1756-IB16
Published deliberately. These get tried, and some of them damage the module or the panel.
- 1756-IB32 — NOT a drop-in. 32 points on a different terminal layout; the existing RTB will not transfer and the data layout differs.
- 1756-IA16 — NOT interchangeable. IB is 24V DC, IA is 120V AC. Fitting an AC module to DC field wiring, or the reverse, damages the module and may present a shock hazard at the terminals.
About the ControlLogix 1756 family
Rockwell’s flagship chassis-based platform. Enormous installed base across automotive, food and beverage, and process plants. Early L6x controllers and most ControlNet modules are now discontinued, which is exactly why they are hard to find when one fails.
